An island of divine power, floating in Mikawa Bay. Takeshima in Gamagori, Aichi, is home to Yaotomi Shrine—the "Shrine of Eight Hundred Fortunes." This sacred island is designated as a Natural Monument, where the goddess Ichikishimahime-no-Mikoto (Benzaiten) bestows blessings of fortune, prosperity, and meaningful connections. Connected to the mainland by a single bridge, the entire island is sacred ground. Five shrines stand here, each offering different blessings: prosperity, longevity, wisdom, and protection from misfortune. Tokugawa Ieyasu—the man who founded Edo, now known as Tokyo, and established a dynasty that ruled Japan for over 260 years—prayed at this very shrine before his rise to power. The sea surrounds. The shrine awaits. Something shifts within.
